Pratah Smaranam - Morning Prayer
Pratah Smaranam by Adi Shankara is a morning prayer to Brahman. This morning prayer to Brahman is recited (while reflecting on the meaning) by Mumukshus / Jnanis / Yogis who follow the Vedanta tradition, irrespective of their stage in terms of their knowledge of Brahman, and irrespective of their pre-disposition towards Yoga, Bhakti (Devotion), or Jnana.
The original Sanskrit verses in this prayer are explained in detail in English for the benefit of the 21st century man / woman by Brahmavid Sam Yogi. Brahmavid recites this prayer at the beginning of his discourses on the Brahma Sutras, so these Sanskrit verses might be already familiar to you.

Dakshina
If
you benefited from the podcasts available for FREE DOWNLOAD on this portal, please consider making a
prayer donation / Guru dakshina. In the Vedanta tradition, at the end of
knowledge acquisition, a "dakshina" or tuition is paid to the preceptor
or Guru, and the Guru acknowledges the fact that the "Sishya" or
student is now at par with the Guru in terms of knowledge / realization /
bliss. (Caution: However, in behavior, the Sishya should always respect
the Guru and should never claim that he / she is equal to the Guru). Brahmavid Sam Yogi sits in Brahma Loka during Brahma-Muhurta (two hours to one hour before sunrise) and prays for peace for every one and for those who have made donations to make this spiritual website possible. Listen to sample prayer chantings here and here and here, and use the secure PayPal pay box to make your donation / pay your "Dakshina" or tuition. Thank you and God Bless!
